Board Member Nominees

Our Church Member Meeting will take place Sunday February 23rd following the service and Spaghetti Dinner (Fundraiser for the youth department).

At that time we will be voting on new members of our church board.  We are providing the following information so that you can know these individuals prior to our meeting.

Jeffery Eyers

1. Please describe details of your conversion to Christ. (when you came to the Lord, how you met Him, etc.)

I grew up in the church, so my journey as a seeker is probably more akin to that of a PK than one of being radically converted from a secular lifestyle. However, I like every other person, had to eventually come to the realization that I was fallen and would need to come to the end of myself and submit my life to be a slave to Jesus Christ (Romans 6: 19-23) in order to find true salvation. Since this experience happened at a very young age, I had to make a purposeful decision to repent of my sins, surrender every aspect of my life to Christ and accept his free gift of salvation (Revelation 22:17) as well as continue to work out my salvation with fear and trembling (Philippians 2:12) throughout my lifetime.

2. Tell about your family and their relationship with the Lord. (do they support your involvement in ministry? Are they serving the Lord? What areas are they ministering in?)

All of my immediate family members (wife, daughters, son in law) are active Christians and are supportive of my ministry to the church in multiple capacities. They themselves are, and always have been, very active in many areas of ministry including going on dozens of missions trips, domestically and to other countries, teaching classes in church to kids and nursery work, youth pastor, Sunday school teachers and many other endeavors that the church is involved with. Beyond that, all of them are very empathetic in their faith and are very sensitive and responsive to people’s suffering and needs.

3. Please describe the ministries you have been involved in since meeting the Lord.

I have been involved with multiple ministries within the church and without, including singing in the choir and other groups, singing on many different praise and worship teams, playing on the church softball team, coaching in sports leagues, outreaches to community through the Pasco Alive ministry, trunk or treat fall festivals, winter festivals, Day of Hope festivals, community outreaches and many others. I co-taught a parenting Sunday school class with my wife, Shirley for several years. I was the lead singer in a Christian rock band in the early 1990s. My wife and I were also the church youth pastors at one point at the church for a year

and a half. I am a member of the security team.

4. How long have you attended First Assembly of God?

I have been attending for 57 years. My parents brought me in1967.

5. What ministries are you currently involved in here at First Assembly of God?

Worship team, Upwards Sports Basketball coaching, A/V tech team for online video, Awana, support for youth.

6. Please describe your understanding of the ministry relationship between the Pastor and Deacon.  Will you be supportive of the pastor’s vision and direction of the church?

I have an extremely strong belief in supporting all authority figures across the board because scripture tells us unequivocally that God places all authority figures in power (Romans 13:1). The Pastor is the head of the church and should be supported in the decisions that he makes for the direction and development of the church. A Deacon’s role should be one of oversight in assisting and helping the pastor in making and implementing decisions. The only other role of a Deacon would be to lend advice in areas where they have specific knowledge or wisdom from education or experience, and that mainly at the pastor’s request.

7.  What do you hope that God does in First Assembly of God in the coming years?

As a long time member and an ardent supporter of the Church, I am very much invested in the success and growth of church membership/attendance. I believe that it is vital that we see an influx of congregants from across the demographical spectrum. Scripture tells us not to forsake the gathering of ourselves together, and just as the first church, I believe that the main reason for this is so that the church can be an institution where people of different backgrounds, but one like faith, come together to support and lift one another up in all important areas of life. This includes spiritually, emotionally, security/safety and economically. Without a rich diversity of people, professional and laymen, from many different walks of life, this charge, given to the first church, becomes very difficult to achieve. My vision for the church is a robust congregation that are willing to become true brothers and sisters in Christ socially and able to step up and meet one another’s needs as God leads them.

1. Please describe details of your conversion to Christ.  (when you came to the Lord, how you met Him, etc.)

I accepted the Lord on September 19, 1956 at 11:52 a.m. I felt God come in with a big washcloth and wash all of the black sin out of my heart. At this time neither my father or mother attended any church.

2.  Tell about your family and their relationship with the Lord.  (do they support your involvement in ministry?  Are they serving the Lord?  What areas are they ministering in?)

My wife has always been my supporter in any area of ministry I have been involved in. Linda is involved in the music ministry, Upward Bound and the Awana program.

6.   Please describe your understanding of the ministry relationship between the Pastor and Deacon.  Will you be supportive of the pastor’s vision and direction of the church?

A Deacon should always support the Pastor’s vision for the church. If elected, I would support the Pastor, be faithful to attend meetings and events and regular church services.

7.  What Do you hope that God does in First Assembly of God in the coming years?

That God fill all 400 chairs with people who are Spirit led and willing to be alive in the ministries of our congregation—that our church will be actively reaching and loving those who do not know the Lord
